MEEKER |The 133rd annual Range Call Celebration kicked off with the Meeker Pageant Tuesday night and concluded Saturday night with a Redhead Express and Clint Black concert at the fairgrounds. In between those touchstone events, residents and visitors were treated to a parade, fireworks show, several rodeos, downtown vendor booths and much more.
In a fine display of horsemanship, Joe Wood and his horse—without a bridle—take a roping run at the Ranch Rodeo during Range Call. Wood reportedly said it was a good thing he was on that particular horse. Wood and his team, J.D. Slogaski, Bud Pakuer and T.J. Toon, were the team winners of the Ranch Rodeo competition. Wood and Toon also competed and placed in the Colorado Professional Rodeo Association rodeo during Range Call, along with Meeker’s Deena Norell, who earned a first place win in breakaway roping. Meeker’s Summer Rodeo Series continues Thursdays at 7 p.m.
