George A. Smith Sr.

George A. Smith Sr. passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Rangely District Hospital. He was born to Augustus and Mary Duritzo Smith on May 1, 1929, in Graceton, Penn.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. George worked 40-plus years in the oilfield and seven years in the coal mines in Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survived by his wife Phyllis Beck Smith; children George Jr. (Christine), Paula Smith, Sharon (Robert) Box, Mark (Cheri) Smith, Michelle (Mike) Harvey; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Mary Smith; brothers Augustus Smith Jr., Joseph Smith, Frances D’Aurelio; sister Renee Tacie; daughter Rebecca Johnson
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Rangely, Colo. Burial was in the Rangely Cemetery, under the direction of the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
