Dear Editor:
On behalf of students and staff of the Meeker School District, the Meeker School Board would like to thank voters for approving Ballot Issue 4A. Thanks also to members of the community bond campaign committee who worked so hard on our behalf. Revenues generated by the bond will provide a safe and secure new Meeker High School with educational facilities second to none.
We will continue to seek additional grants for construction and equipment, with which we hope to minimize bond expenditures. Meantime, given the failure of state Proposition 73, the District must rely on reserves in order to maintain staffing and educational programs. We hope the legislature in the coming session will find a way to fully fund public education.
