RANGELY | The Rangely Board of Trustees embarked on a search for a new town manager following the resignation of Peter Brixius earlier this year. Brixius is now the Town Manager of the City of Craig.
Following Brixius’ resignation, the Rangely board appointed long time town clerk Lisa Piering as interim town manager.
The board received 12 applications for the position and interviewed five of the applicants, according to Rangely Mayor Andy Shaffer.
The board has selected Piering as the only finalist for the job.
“After 14 days have passed, the council intends to make an offer to employ her as town manager,” Shaffer said via email.
Piering said she is “excited to have been chosen,” and hopes “to identify the town’s priorities and economic strategies by working closely with town trustees and staff on these key points.”
Piering is a Rangely native. Her great-grandmother homesteaded in the Rangely area in the 1920s. She has served as town treasurer for 12 years and clerk/treasurer for six of those years.
