MEEKER | Performing and fine Arts participation enhances academic performance and success.
Educational research studies have confirmed that students who participate in the performing arts also excel in academically rigorous disciplines such as math, science and technology, literature, composition, music, public speaking, as well as athletics and leadership and are often rewarded with academic scholarships to prestigious higher education institutions and expanded career development opportunities. Many renowned film and stage actors got their start in school performing arts productions.
A 2015 performing arts tour featured a trip for six Meeker students and three teachers funded by local philanthropic charitable foundations and donors to New York City’s famed Broadway Theatre Arts program designed for thespian students and teachers who worked with prominent directors and actors to refine their acting skills and knowledge for future.
MACC also sponsors the annual MeekerPalooza Music and Art festival in the summer, as well as performing arts outreach programs for youth such as the University of Colorado at Boulder’s renowned Colorado Shakespeare Festival productions, the Colorado Mesa University Theatre Arts productions, and future plans include attending Denver Center for the Performing Arts productions.
Volunteer and Financial Support needed to sustain performing arts programs
MACC is an IRS 501 [c] 3 non-profit organization registered with the Colorado Secretary of State. Charitable tax-deductible donations and grants are welcome and encouraged to help sustain the performing and fine arts programs for the youth and adults of the Meeker Community.
Youth and adult volunteers and patrons of the performing arts are most welcome to join MACC and assist in promoting these worthwhile performing and fine arts programs and opportunities.
