James “Jim” McDermott, 67, of Greeley, Colo., passed away Jan. 14, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born Nov. 19,1951, in Denver, Colo., to Andrew and Hazel McDermott. He worked for Greeley Gas/Atmos Energy in Steamboat Springs, Meeker, Salida, Durango and Greeley, Colo., for 40 years. He loved spending his time fishing, hunting, smoking meat and being with friends and most importantly his family. He is survived by his wife Christine McDermott; daughters Dawn Gentile and husband Eric, Wendy Rademacher and husband Todd, Jamie Turner and husband Melvin, Nichole Gilbert, Sage Sarchet and wife Jill, Michelle Allen and husband Adrian. Grandchildren Sammi Gentile, Halima Mohammed, Shana McDermott, Anthony Gentile, Sarah Stone, Derek Scott, Scott Turner, Jeremy Scott, Josh Scott, Zoe’ Allen, Kaedon Rademacher, Shaniqua Sarchet, Olivia Gilbert, Jett Allen, Adam, Blake, and Makena Sarchet; great-grandchild Kynzlee Sembach.
Jim was one of a kind and would lend a hand to anyone in need. His goofy laugh could put a smile on anyone’s face. His firm handshake turned to a warm hug. The kindness he shared for his friends and the love for his family is irreplaceable. His strength is admirable, a true fighter is who he is.
He was a true friend, a supporter, hard working, a giver, a loving son, brother, friend, and a “proud, proud” grandpa, father and husband.
Jim will be deeply missed, loved and remembered by all whom he loved.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Platte River Fort, 22999 US Hwy. 34 Greeley, Colo., 80631. (www.PLATTERIVERFORT.COM) Dress is casual!
