The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.
Feb. 4-10, 2019
The dispatch center processed 508 phone calls this last week, receiving 43 911 calls, answered 35 calls for Meeker Police Department (MPD) and placed 154 outgoing phone calls. A total of 159 calls for service were created, 83 for the Sheriff’s Office and 52 for MPD. (Please note the department breakdown of calls reflects a different number because of incidents with multiple agency responses).
The Sheriff’s Office conducted 16 traffic stops, issuing five citations and and MPD had two stops issuing warnings. Highway 13 had seven traffic stops issuing two citations.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Office included 13 agency assists, two 911 hang ups, four animal calls, five civil papers served, three citizen assists, two fraud cases, eight motorist assists, three suspicious incidents, four traffic accidents, two traffic complaints, five traffic hazards, two trespass, three VIN inspections and one each: business check, civil, DUI, fire, hazmat incident, jail transport, theft, unattended death and warrant arrest.
MPD calls included six agency assists, eight 911 hang ups, seven animal calls, 13 business checks, three citizen assists, two motorist assists, two traffic accidents, and one each: abandoned vehicle, civil, fraud, harassment, suspicious incident, theft trespass and VIN inspection.
There were seven calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue including one alarm, one medical transport, four ambulance requests and one injury accident.
There were six assists with Colorado State Patrol.
Rio Blanco Detention facility booked in three, two by the Sheriff’s Office, one from Rangely PD, and released two, transported one to or from another facility. There are currently 15 inmates in the facility.
There was one DUI arrest, seven vehicle crashes and one ATV crash reported in the county. Five involved deer, elk or cows.
