Lee Watson

Lee C. Watson

Sept. 22, 1922 ~ June 20, 2019

The gates of heaven opened for Lee C. Watson on June 20, 2019.

Just like them horses… It is time for him to run.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Meeker. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Following the service and graveside a celebration of life will be held at the Watson Ranch, 840 County Rd 4 in Meeker.

Born on Sept. 14, 1922, Lee had a fulfilling life of 96 years. A veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, Lee served our country as a 2nd Lieutenant flying twin engine bombers. His love of flying never ended.

Lee married his true love, Eva Dean (Pace) Watson on Sept. 26, 1948.

They began their ranching journey together in Brown’s Park, Colorado. Following that first year they resided in Craig, Colorado from 1949-1957 in a home that Lee built. In 1957 they moved to Meeker where Lee became one of the most well known ranchers raising sheep, cattle and his passion of great horses.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Eva Dean (Pace) Watson; five children: Jim (Diana) Watson of Meeker, Colorado; Chris Watson of Thornton, Colorado; Keith (Kim) Watson of Fort Collins, Colorado;  Kelly (Joe) Conrado of Meeker, Colorado;

Colleen Watson of Wittmann, Arizona.

He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Lee was very proud of his family and loved the traditional family lamb barbecues, being the first to challenge anyone in a game of horseshoes!  Raising great horses… namely race horses was his undeniable passion.

In lieu of flowers, any who wish may make donations to HopeWest—Meeker in care of Grant Mortuary—Meeker.
