MEEKER | Last week the Lady cowboys took on the Hayden Tigers and Limon Badgers. The matches against Hayden held strong as the Cowboys beat the Tigers in three quick games. Before the games, the cowboys joined the tigers in a circle to celebrate the Tigers late wrestling coach who passed away last September. The varsity girls all joined together in prayer before the matches started. Limon was a different story. The lady cowboys gave up too many errors to beat the Badgers at home. Going into the second match the game looked possible for the cowboys as they beat the Badgers 25-17. The following matches held a strong block with competitive serving from the Badger offense, leaving the cowboys short taking a loss in this non-conference match against Limon.
After last week’s matches, stats show that Becca Steerman holds the most assists for the cowboys followed by Addie Joy. The cowboys have 343 season kills lead by Julia Dinwiddie with 128 followed by Emma Luce with 75. The cowboys head to Rangely this Thursday to take on the Panthers then Friday to West Grand to play the Mustangs.
