n The Meeker Herald — 100 years ago
The J.R. Bartlett’s had a buggy accident on the way down from Buford. No one was injured when one of their horses “decided to leave the road.”
According to the Herald, “the telephone at McKee’s was brought into play and soon another rig was on the way from Buford.
Sold by the Meeker Drug Co., “health coffee,” — the closest coffee imitation ever yet produced. Dr. Shoop’s Health Coffee was made from pure toasted grains, with malt, nuts, etc.

n The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
A remodel was underway at the Rio Blanco County High School, including improvements to the gymnasium floor and replacing of windows in the industrial arts room.
Bud Conrado attended the Interstate Oil and Gas Commission meetings in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Lost: Ladies’ red billfold in Meeker. Reward. Call 043R1. Clara Ann Purcell.
Sheriff Russell Harp reported that all was quiet on the Meeker law front and for the second time in four years the county jail was entirely empty Monday afternoon.

n The Rangely Times — 35 years ago
The Town of Rangely was seeking applications for the position of city manager. “Some construction experience required,” at a salary ranging from $10,000-$13,000.
Outstanding student awards were honored at Rangely High School, including Markel Massey, Wayne Nickson, Sharon Stevens, Peggy Hanzon and Angela Theos, among others.
A king-size six-pack of Coca Cola was $0.49, and seedless grapes were on sale for $0.35 per pound. (It’s been awhile since we saw those prices.)

n The Rangely Times — 20 years ago
The Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds requested that $35,000 from a CCITF grant be used for the construction of a pole barn at the Meeker fairgrounds.
Dry weather conditions in Northwest Colorado had resulted in almost 50 fires.
New releases at Family Video included “Fatal Attraction,” “Full Metal Jacket” and “Overboard.”
A home on Hilltop Drive in Rangely was offered for sale at a reduced price of $83,500.
