RANGELY | Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce’s first annual Santa’s Gift Shop Bazaar which took place Nov. 23 at the Early Education Center was a huge hit, sure to grow in popularity. Not only did local and regional vendors enjoy the marketplace but Rangely area residents were able to get a jump start on their holiday gift shopping. The real success story though was the cause behind the bazaar. Vendor booth rental and raffle ticket sales were all donated to the Rangely School District’s lunch account debt.
Re-4 School Superintendent Matthew Scoggins reports that currently the district-wide debt is approximately $3,000. During Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement on Dec. 3, Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce’s Konnie Billgren, Jennifer Barker, Lissa Freeman, and Sue Samaniego presented Scoggins with a check for $2,460 that will pay off about 80% of the lunch account debt. This was made possible thanks to sponsors Moon Lake Electric, Professional Touch, California Wok, Yardley’s Automotive, Rangely True Value, Rangely Conoco, Bank of the San Juans, The Salon, Country Bandit K-9 Services, El Agave, Town of Rangely, Nichols Store, Giovanni’s Italian Grill, White River Market, Jeff and Rebecca Rector, Sam Tolley, Paul Burgell, Aileen Moore, Gordon and Jennifer Barker, Debra Bird and Lynda Cady.
The Chamber would also like to recognize volunteers Norm Hall, Bertha Tolley, Aileen Moore, Joyce Cantu, Gordon Barker, and Santa Claus for taking the time away from his duties at the North Pole to stop in and visit.
