Letter to the Editor: Stockgrowers thankful for community support

Dear Editor:
In celebration of the successful Dance Without Wolves fundraiser, the Rio Blanco Stockgrowers, Rio Blanco County Farm Bureau and Rio Blanco County Woolgrowers would like to thank the community and individuals who helped make it such a success. Over 300 attended and approximately $34,000 was raised. Proceeds will go towards Coloradans Protecting Wildlife’s (CPW) efforts opposing the statewide ballot initiative to introduce wolves on the Western Slope of Colorado. Local and surrounding communities came together, and all contributed in a meaningful way. Purchasing dinner tickets, buying or donating auction items, donating time, and making direct donations to CPW; it all makes a difference. We can’t thank you enough for your overwhelming support.

Thank you, general sponsors and supporters: 4M Ranch, Bank of the San Juans, Burke Brothers, Cimarron Telecommunications, CKP Insurance, Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Farm Bureau, Diamond Peak Cattle, Farm Bureau Insurance — James Amick, Harper Livestock, John and Sheryl Etchart, Livestock Exchange, Loma Livestock, M and M Cattle Company, Main Line Band, Meeker Fertilizer, Mountain Valley Bank, Mountain West Insurance and Financial Services, Nichols Store and Hume Distributing, Northwest Auto Sales and Service, Parts City, Rio Blanco Cattlewomen, Rio Blanco County Farm Bureau, Rio Blanco County Woolgrowers, Rio Blanco Herald Times, Rocky Mountain Machinery, Snyder and Counts Feed and Seed, Sterling Livestock Commission, Jim Santomaso, Torrington Livestock, US Tractor and Harvest, Villa Ranch, White River Electric Association, White’s Construction and Excavation, Wyatt’s Sports Center, Yampa Valley Bank.
Thank you, auction donors: Houser family, Christine Halandras, Claude and Peg Wood, Colorado Woolgrowers, Dan and Kerri Schwartz, Greg Cunningham, High Desert Timber Frames, High Plains Cattle Supply, Jane Turnburke, Janelle Urista, Jimmy Wells, John Wix, Just Crafting Around, Kay Bumgardner, Kelly Osborn, Klinglesmith’s LK Ranch, LW Cook’s Trucking, Wade’s Pumping Service, Mark Scritchfield, Mason Scritchfield, Maym Cunningham, MGM, Meeker Embroidery, Meeker Fertilizer, Meeker Mustang Makeover, Michelle Cox, Mike and Fay Seely, Mike and Mary Whalin, Mt. This was truly a community effort and we thank everyone who contributed time, effort, and/or financially. Attendees opened their wallets for this great cause, and we thank each of you who purchased auction items, made cash donations, etc. Rio Blanco Stockgrowers’ President Brian Collins said, “We offer a special thanks to Stockgrowers and Farm Bureau Secretaries, Tristan Nielsen and Nancy Amick, for their endless hours and dedication to ensuring the success of this event. And a success it was.” Thank you to Ma Famiglia restaurant and staff for the great meal and service along with the Colorado Farm Bureau staff for grilling the steaks. There was so much support that we likely missed some well-deserved acknowledgments but please know everyone’s contribution is greatly appreciated.
