MEEKER | Governor Jared Polis has ordered closure of dine-in services at all Colorado restaurants, as well as bars, gyms, theaters and casinos. Restaurants can continue to prepare meals for delivery or take-out. The order is effective immediately through the next 30 days and may be renewed.
All Department of Motor Vehicles offices will also be closed from March 18 through April 18.
“We want to be ahead of the curve in Colorado,” said Polis in a Monday afternoon press conference.
The state decision came about after the federal government issued more stringent recommendations for social distancing, gathering in groups, school closures, and more.
There are currently 20 hospitalizations and 160 positive cases in the state, but epidemiologists believe there are 1000s of cases in the state. Testing has not yet been scaled to appropriate levels, per Polis.
Polis also addressed the current, more pressing epidemic of panic buying, stating supply chains are not affected in any way by coronavirus.
Please be considerate of others when making purchases.
We will continue to post closures and updates as we receive them at https://www.theheraldtimes.com/tag/coronavirus/
Hopefully folks in Meeker start to take this seriously. I saw large groups of kids at Circle Park yesterday 3/16. We have a large vulnerable elderly population in this town that we should all be considerate of. Not to mention younger folks who may have vulnerable conditions. Even Trump is telling us to take this serious!
