Obituary: Edward L. ‘Sam’ Lippard

Sam Lippard
Edward “Sam” Lippard passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, at his residence in Delta, Colorado. He was just shy of turning 103.
A graveside funeral service with Military Honors was held Monday, April 13, 2020, at the Craig Cemetery in Craig, Colorado.
Sam was born May 5, 1917, to John Henry and Edna Maude (Bryan) Lippard in Pearsall, Texas. He spent his childhood in the Texas Panhandle.
Sam married Dora Maxine Doak on June 1, 1940, in Vernal, Utah. She preceded him in death.
Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
Sam was a resident of Craig, moving to Cedaredge, Colorado in 1976, then to Delta in 1995. He was a former member of the V.F.W. and was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta.
Sam married Lula Mae (Odgen) on March 25, 1995, in Delta, Colorado. She preceded him in death in June 2019.
Sam, a master plumber by trade, enjoyed hunting and fishing. After obtaining his master plumber’s license with ML Shepherd and Sons Inc., Lippard had a plumbing business in Craig and in Meeker. He also owned the Ripple Creek Lodge on the White River from 1959 until 1971.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Carla Scott and daughter-in-law, Sherry Lippard, both of Delta; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edna Lippard; his first wife, Dora Lippard; his son, Garry Lippard; four brothers; three sisters; and his second wife, Lula Lippard.
Arrangements were under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
