Rio Blanco County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation has matched $34,000 raised at our local Feb. 22 Dance Without Wolves event for a total of $68,000 to Coloradoans Protecting Wildlife (CPW). Dance Without Wolves was a joint effort of Rio Blanco Stockgrowers, Rio Blanco Farm Bureau, Rio Blanco Woolgrowers and other local groups and businesses to raise funding to oppose Initiative 107, a measure on the 2020 ballot that would, if approved, introduce non-native wolves to the Western Slope.
CPW, the issue committee opposing the measure, was initially formed by Colorado Farm Bureau, Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, and Colorado Woolgrowers to manage the campaign in opposition to the initiative. Several wildlife conservation organizations including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Safari Club International, have joined with CPW.
