The wise use of our natural resources plays a critical role in our economy, standard of living, lifestyle, and comfort. We hope to provide you with user-friendly information to help you understand and engage on these issues that impact you and your family.
The White River and Douglas Creek Conservation District’s motto is, “The Wise Use of All Natural Resources.” All natural resources — water, plants, animals, energy, soil and other resources — have a limited supply and we have a growing population that relies upon them. Therefore, we must use them wisely.
By state statute, conservation districts have a responsibility to develop a plan for the care and treatment of the lands within their respective boundaries. The White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts (Districts) do this through a long-range planning process where all landowners are encouraged to share their thoughts and concerns regarding natural resources. Landowner input determines what actions the Districts focus on during the following three years.
Water, rangelands health, and wildlife are the three resources the landowners have identified as priorities for the Districts to focus on. Additionally, landowners felt strongly that the Districts should continue to implement the “Land and Natural Resources Plan and Policies” in the federal land management agencies’ planning processes.
