Welle resigns from WREA board

After five years of service, Dick Welle has resigned from the White River Electric Association board of directors ahead of a move to Junction, Texas, with wife Cindy. His board seat will be filled by appointment. Call WREA at 970-878-5041 for more info.

MEEKER | After a long and distinguished career at White River Electric Association, which included 38 years as an employee and five years as a Board member, Dick Welle has retired yet again from WREA. In 2013, Mr. Welle retired as General Manager but was later appointed to fill a board vacancy in 2015 serving two of those five years as Board President.

Welle recently submitted a letter of resignation to the Board of Directors effective September 15, 2020 which will quickly be followed by a move to Texas with his wife Cindy. The Welle’s excitement about their retirement to Junction, Texas is tempered only by their love and appreciation for the community that has given them so much over the years. “We are grateful for this community, our family and all our friends who have shared so much with us over the years. Meeker will always be a part of our lives and we will be back to visit.”, said Dick. Welle went on to say that, “it has long been our dream to retire to Texas. On a whim we put the plan in motion and were amazed at how quickly it all came together”. The Welles have sold their home and will move to Texas by the end of the month.

Welle was re-elected to serve a three-year term in 2019. Per the WREA Bylaws, the Board will fill the vacancy by appointment for the remainder of the term which will expire in September 2022. Members interested to be considered for appointment to the WREA Board of Directors are requested to submit letters of interest to the WREA Board by Monday September 28, 2020. Letters may be mailed to WREA; Attention Mr. Hal Pearce – WREA Board President, P.O. Box 958, Meeker, CO 81641, hand delivered Attn: Mr. Hal Pearce, WREA Board President to the WREA headquarters at 233 6th Street, Meeker, CO 81641 or emailed to [email protected]. The Board will hold a special meeting to review all submitted letters of interest on September 30, 2020.

Following last week’s 75th Annual Meeting, the WREA Board elected officers which included re-elected Hal Pearce as President, Rich Parr as Vice-President, Bill Jordan as Secretary and newly elected Bryce Ducey as Treasurer. Mr. Ducey filled retiring Stan Wyatt’s seat on the Board. “Dick has been a leader at WREA for decades and his impact on this organization cannot be understated. While we are happy for the Welles and their new adventure, they will be greatly missed.” said Hal Pearce. Pearce went on to say, “Dick’s professionalism and friendship has meant so much to so many of us.”. Please call WREA at 970-878-5041 for additional information regarding the Board vacancy.
