Larry was born in Portage Ville, Missouri in the family barn to Heck and Nadine Yardley. He grew up around the Poplarbluff and Freemont areas. When he was 12 the family moved to Nucla, Colorado. He graduated eighth grade in Nucla soon after going to work in the uranium mines to help support the family and help raise his younger siblings after his father was killed in a mining accident in Nucla, Colorado. In 1961, he met Paula Smith. They were married in October 1963. To that marriage they had three children: Deborah (Norm) Hall, Barbara (Boyd) Millsaps, Lonnie (Heidi) Yardley; eight grandkids, numerous great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived in Rangely, Colorado, from 1978 till death in 2020. He had worked in the oil fields until he was disabled with his back and pulmonary fibrosis from the uranium mines. He liked fishing/throwing fishing pole into lake, hunting and going for drives to look at wildlife. He especially liked spending time with all his kids and grandkids.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Heck and Nadine; one sister, Betty Pfifer; one brother, Donnie Yardley; and one brother-in-law, Larry Albright. He is survived by his wife Paula, his children and two sisters, Patty Kucera and Peggy Albright, and two brothers-in-law, Rod Smith and Wayne Kucera.
There will be a memorial service this spring.
