Obituary: David Lynn Fetterolf

Oct. 22, 1946 ~ Dec. 22, 2020

David Lynn Fetterolf, 74, of Clinton, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Dec. 22, 2020. He was born on Oct. 22, 1946 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Clarence Orlan Fetterolf and Sylvia (Petrik) Fetterolf.

David Fetterolf

He loved the Lord and was an amazing father and great role model to his four children. He served his country proudly and served as a medic in the U.S. Air Force. He served his community in Rangely, Colorado as a police officer for two years. He then continued his education and received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical science. He worked as a water chemist at Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Power Plant and Public Service Company of Colorado in Platteville, Colorado until his retirement in 2002.

In 2002, he and his wife, Valencia, purchased the Elk City-Clinton KOA Campground in western Oklahoma which they owned and operated until 2015.

Dave had a passion for flying and could often be found at the Clinton airport working on his Cessna 182. He was an enthusiastic taekwondo black belt and loved a good game of golf. His sense of humor knew no limits and he was always a joy to be around. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Valencia N. Fetterolf; his daughter Cynthia Scherping of Fruita, Colorado, daughter Ginger Lee and husband Clint of Poway, California, son Zachary Fetterolf and wife Danielle of Strasburg, Colorado, and daughter Lara Metcalf and husband Bryon of Severance, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Orlan and Sylvia Fetterolf and young brother Orlan Dennis Fetterolf and a (step) son James Feather.

He is also survived by seven grandsons, Ben and Paul Scherping, Marshall and Sam Feather, Garin Lee, Jet and Dash Fetterolf and two great-grandsons, Beau and Jack Scherping.

He is loved and will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
