Something positive
Dear Editor:
I am a fresh college graduate and a long-time resident of Rangely, Colorado. In fact, I grew up in Rangely and have put my heart and soul into the community and school district, which I can honestly say I love.
I would like to point out that I feel as if there is a lot of negativity in our community at this time. Perhaps this is because of COVID-19, or everyone is bored due to winter, I am not sure. However, this leads me to believe people are not taking the time to simply stop and smell the roses.
Rangely has so many positives, especially right now, which are simply not being recognized. For instance, Colorado Northwest Community College received a RISE grant to create a traveling STEM lab, how cool is that? They were also recognized as one of the top five schools in the nation by Newsweek Magazine when it comes to graduates who earn the most money.
In addition, I would also like to point out that Rangely District Hospital is bringing in brand new physician assistants, a new physical therapist and two new doctors to our area. Rangely has also had two new restaurants open that add to a variety of great places to dine, a nice flower shop and a boxing rink. Did you know the Adora Hotel sold and is going to be turned into apartments?
Rangely School District, which is fantastic, has set up a group of kids to brainstorm on how to make Rangely a better place to live and how to create community pride. The youth of Rangely can do anything! How amazing is it that they are the ones to create community pride?
As you can see, Rangely does have a lot of positive things going on and I think that we get so caught up in trying to point the finger at people and things that we forget to stop and appreciate the positive things that are happening right in front of us. I would like to encourage everyone to find one positive thing about something, or someone, we do not like and go from there.
The United States, nor Rangely, was not founded on people who agreed 100% of the time, we were founded on people who found compromise. Let us spread a little less hate and a little more love and empathy and sit down and question those who we do not understand. Rangely is in fact one of the best places to live, not just because of the town, but because the people are incredible.

Thanks for help during frightening incident
Dear Editor:
On Sunday, Feb. 7, I did something I thought I would never do; I got lost while hiking outside of Rangely. The embarrassment of publicly admitting my error in judgement cannot keep me from expressing gratitude to all who came out to help me. Heartfelt thanks to Ashely Bryant, Clark and Norian Edwards, Trey Robie, Sheriff Anthony Mazzola, Sergeant Brian Madden, Undersheriff Jeremy Muxlow, Deputy Garrett Duncan, BLM Ranger Ben Brown, Search and Rescue Coordinator Bud Ridings, the helicopter crew whose names I did not get, and anyone else I may have missed. Your kindness and professionalism made a frightening experience as pleasant as it could have been. I will be forever grateful!

Support the For The People Act
Dear Editor:
To Registered Voters of Congressional District 3, regardless of a citizen’s political feelings, most people might agree that elected officials should be accountable to ordinary people like you and me. The legislative bill presently before congress, HR 1 (For The People Act) would be a much needed reform which would hold elected officials accountable.
HR 1 is a bill currently before Congress that addresses voting rights, gerrymandering, money in politics, and ethics reform. This legislation would help protect the best interests of all voters, not just those persons and groups with special interests and deep pockets. HR 1 is a comprehensive reform package that would more directly align our democracy toward the common good and away from corrupt political interests.
As a registered voter of CD 3, please take time to contact your elected representative, Lauren Boebert. Ask her to support bill HR 1, known as For The People Act.
