  • If the eleven counties of the western slope of Colorado are ever to become great, they must unite upon one plan, and through cooperation work out their own salvation.
  • The James brothers (Thomas and Walter) of Axial, were in town the other day and report that last week’s snowfall reached a depth of eighteen inches on the level on top of Ninemile hill.

  • An Eagle, Colo., dispatch reports that Nells Larson and Jimmy Smith have established a trapping camp up near Dry Lake on the Castle range. The pack of wolves which ranged that country earlier in the season and of which Warren Larson trapped two, is back and these men hope to be successful in trapping a number of them. Signs of the wolves found by the trappers indicate that there is a large pack if not two separate packs.
  • Better to have winter now than in April.

  • Social Security taxes jumped from $748 in 1970 to $936 in 1971 for wage earners in the $9,000 bracket. This is quite an increase for both the employee who pays half and the employer who gets nicked for the other half.
  • Dr. John Roberts, president of Rangely College since February of 1965, submitted his resignation to the college board last Thursday, to take effect on June 30, and requested that he be granted an immediate leave of absence until that time. The action came as a surprise to the board at the special meeting which started at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and ended in the early hours of the morning.
