Letters: Note to Morlan, COVID not over, Voter integrity

A note to Dave Morlan

Dear Editor:
David, I have known you almost all of your life and you are one of my favorite people. Having said that, I have been waiting the last few weeks, since this recall started against Gary Moyer, for you to come forward and sign the release for the commissioners to be able to release their side of the story about you not being reappointed to the county position. To my knowledge you have not done that. Part of the wording on this recall is that Gary Moyer is not being transparent in the manner in which he has conducted county business. Let’s apply that statement to you! You have the opportunity right now to sign a release and let the entire episode be heard. I am very disappointed you would encourage this recall to go to a vote without the citizens of Rio Blanco County knowing both sides of this story. I can understand you feel it is personal and none of anyone’s business but what you are doing is making it all of our business. Do the right thing — sign the release and put both sides of the story out there, then let the public decide on their own.

COVID not over yet

Dear Editor:
The state has lifted COVID restrictions. We’re on our own (but then we always have been). The course of the pandemic now will be determined by individual judgment and love of neighbor.

We’re far from finished with COVID-19. New cases in Colorado still number about half the population of Meeker every day. More than a Rio Blanco County’s worth get sick with COVID every week. Nationwide we’re headed toward numbers of deaths approaching the totals in the Great Pandemic of 1918.

And like influenza, SARS-CoV-2 is changing. New variants of the virus, some of them, are more lethal, more easily transmissible, and causing more severe disease in younger age groups. Every new case gives the virus the opportunity to produce new strains even more deadly, or strains that can escape the vaccines.

It’s not time to let our guard down. Masks, distancing, hand-washing, avoiding crowds in confined spaces — all are as important now as ever. And get vaccinated. The vaccines have proven extraordinarily safe and effective. Protect yourself. Protect your loved ones and your neighbors. Thanks to the enormous efforts of our county health department, we’re at about 27% vaccination rate. We need people to step up, get immunized, and reach at least three times that figure.

Voter integrity

Dear Editor:
We need voter integrity! Colorado has something very curious going on in our elections, it is beyond the voting machine, beyond traditional expected “cheating” schemes. Join with us to listen to Dr. Douglas Frank (physicist) who has discovered what has happened. He will educate us on what has taken place and how you can help to restore voter integrity to Colorado and any state! Let us Unite to Restore Colorado’s Voter Integrity. This event is hosted by America’s Mom and Concerned Citizens.

Sign up and join in, we can fix our voting system now and for future generations. Two opportunities available: Grand Junction: Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m. – Double Tree Hotel, Horizon Drive and in Denver: Saturday, April 24, 6 p.m. Double Tree Hotel, Cherry Creek. To attend, get your tickets at… https://www.americasmom.net/event-details/dr-frank-talks-colorado-election. To see Dr Frank’s latest work on Michigan voter integrity: https://youtu.be/G9J7D2at9OI. God bless Colorado and America!
