Piceance Mustangs barbecue June 26
MEEKER | Piceance Mustangs will be hosting its annual barbecue on June 26 at the Yellow Creek Corrals in the Piceance Basin. Start time will be 10 a.m. Piceance Mustangs will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages. Please bring a side dish to share. Class of 1961 reunion July 3
MEEKER | The Meeker School Class of 1961 will celebrate the 60th anniversary reunion of classmates on July 3. The event will be hosted at the home of Jerry and Mary Ann Seely and will feature a tour of the newly renovated Meeker High School. Library book club meeting July 12
MEEKER | The Meeker Library book club will be reading “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman. We will discuss the book on Monday, July 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the library. All are welcome to join in the fun.
Fifth annual Solstice Festival this weekend
RANGELY | The fifth annual Solstice Festival Concert at The Tank in Rangely will be this Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20.
The Solstice Festival begins at 8 p.m. Saturday with a performance by composer, sound designer, multimedia performs and analog synthesist Todd Barton.
Celebrate the dawn of this year’s Solstice at The Tank at 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 20, followed by a bell-ringing celebration at 1:17 p.m. when the sun is highest in the sky and closing with evening celebrations for the moment of Solstice at 9:32 p.m.
Throughout the day Sunday enjoy the music of Slow Beethoven, a walk-through installation of a slowed down and electronically-stretched movement from a late Beethoven string quartet. The concert will be sent to the Tank by remote signal from Brooklyn, New York, as part of a “prominent experiment” during a year of Beethoven festivities surrounding the composer’s 250th birthday.
