Class of 1961 reunion July 3

MEEKER | The Meeker School Class of 1961 will celebrate the 60th anniversary reunion of classmates on July 3. The event will be hosted at the home of Jerry and Mary Ann Seely and will feature a tour of the newly renovated Meeker High School. Former teachers have been invited to join with classmates to reminisce and share memories. For more information, contact Mary Ann Seely or Carol Brown at [email protected].

Library book club meeting July 12

MEEKER | The Meeker Library book club will be reading “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman. We will discuss the book on Monday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at the library. All are welcome to join in the fun.

Upcoming RBC Free Legal Clinic

MEEKER | The next free legal clinic will be Wednesday July 14, 2021, from 2-5 p.m. Contact the Meeker Public Library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. As a COVID work-around, instead of clinic patrons coming to your local public library (which may have limited access), your local library staff will schedule all appointments. It is especially important to provide a reliable phone number, so the volunteer attorney can call the clinic patron’s telephone directly, during scheduled clinic hours. Please contact your local library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. Space is limited.

Meeker HopeWest’s upcoming events

MEEKER | With this Fourth of July quickly approaching, Meeker HopeWest would like to invite all current and past volunteers who have helped in any way, be it with patients, youth grief groups, horse camp, helping with the annual gala or fundraisers, to walk with us in the Fourth of July parade. HopeWest would also like to extend the invitation to anyone HopeWest has helped. You can walk with a poster or bring your ATV, whatever you would like. If you would like to join, we will meet at Ninth and Main in front of Brooks Realty. Contact Solveig Olson at 970-878-9383 or [email protected] if you would like to join us in the parade.

River advisory committee meeting July 8

MEEKER | The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) for the White River Integrated Water Initiative will be meeting on Thursday, July 8 at 6 p.m. in Meeker at the Rio Planco Fire Protection Building (200 7th St.). A virtual link or call-in number will be provided upon request. Please email [email protected] to request a link for the virtual meeting. The PAC will hear reports from the diversion and riparian assessment teams and presentations from Trout Unlimited and Water 4 on Stream Planning. After that, discussion will be had on community engagement planning.

Rangely Fourth of July events

RANGELY | Fourth of July events in Rangely start tonight (July1) with night golf at Cedar Ridges, followed July 2 with a surf-n-turf dinner and concert starting at 6:30 p.m. (dinner tickets available for purchase at the Rangely Rec Center). On Saturday, July 3 events at Elks Park kick off at 8 a.m. and include a rib cook off, pie baking contest, inflatables, and a cornhole tournament. Fireworks have been cancelled.
