RBC | Over the last couple of weeks, the CNCC Rangely campus has been hopping. Not with students, but with the firefighters who have been using our campus as the staging area for the Oil Springs fire. These men and women put everything on the line to control that fire and, even though it took a little time, they were able to contain it and keep all of us safe.
During the last five years, our campus has served as a staging area for the firefighters three different times. We have welcomed them with open arms and were happy we could provide them with a great place to deploy firefighters to the different fires in our area. These men and women work night and day, and have been diligent in not only keeping the fires under control, but also worked hard to insure our work at the college was not interrupt. We want to thank them for what they have done and continue to do. They deserve the praise, a pat on the back, and the admiration of all of us.
Colorado Northwestern Community College is a lot of things to a lot of people. This summer CNCC showed that again by serving as an educational institution and by providing facilities for our firefighters. This is where the “community” in community college comes from. In my entire educational career, no place I have been has worked harder each and every day to prove their commitment to their students and the community than CNCC. I am so proud to have been a part of this college and what we do for our students and our communities.
As I write my last CNCC Corner, I want to let everyone know that northwest Colorado is a great place and is even greater because of Colorado Northwestern Community College. As I retire, I will miss being a part of the day-to-day activities at the college, but will always be a part of this great institution. The college is in great hands with the wonderful employees here and with your new president, Dr. Lisa Jones. She will lead the college to even greater things in the future.
The last thing I want to say in this final CNCC Corner for me is thank you. Thank you to the firefighters. Thank you to the communities we serve. Thank you to all the students I have been blessed to get to know. Most of all, I want to say thank you to all the great employees who have made my time here even better than I could have imagined
