RBC Junior Livestock Auction benefits area youth

RBC I Rio Blanco area youth have put in months of hard work raising their premium livestock and preparing for the annual Rio Blanco County Fair and Junior Livestock Auction. The annual livestock sale brings the opportunity for area youth to sell their animals at the end of the show. Many exhibitors use those funds to purchase future livestock projects or help with college expenses.

In addition to the live auction, show organizers have elected to once again host an online sale through StockShowAuctions.com, an auction site specific to 4-H and FFA livestock sales. The RBC Junior Livestock Auction has always been supported by local individuals and businesses. The continuation of the online format will allow that support to continue, while also making the livestock sale available to those business and family contacts who live further away. The Rio Blanco Fairboard expects more than 140 animals to be in this year’s auction.

The sale offers supporters the opportunity to help exhibitors in two ways; one is by bidding on the animal (in person or virtually) and the second is through “Add-ons”. Add-ons are straight financial contributions to either an individual or multiple exhibitors and can be in any amount. Businesses and individuals may wish to help exhibitors but can’t afford to buy the animal(s). They can “add-on” $25, $50, $100 or more to an exhibitor(s). According to Brent Graves with StockShowAuctions.com “Add-ons make the premium sale event what it is. Add-ons come from businesses, neighbors, grandparents, aunts & uncles, it gives everybody the opportunity to support these young people. Everybody in these kids’ circle wants to see them be successful and they can help them achieve that success through this premium sale at any financial level.”

Organizers admit it is an easy process to participate in. Buyers can watch a short instructional video or print off written instructions, register on the site. Bidding will begin online Aug. 7 at 8 a.m. and become part of the live auction when it begins at 1:30 p.m. Once the auction portion is over the buyers will be able to select whether they wish to resell the project or choose what processor they wish to use. The Rio Blanco County Junior Livestock Auction will collect the funds as they always have, and those instructions will be on the buyer’s invoices provided by the site at the conclusion of the event.

Buyers are invited to visit and register for the sale at www.StockShowAuctions.com or contact the front office for more information.
