Obituary: Donna Mae (Vesely) Stewart

May 29, 1934 ~ Sept. 15, 2021

Donna Mae (Vesely) Stewart, 87, of Rangely, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021. She was born on May 29, 1934, to Frank and Mabel Vesely on their homestead in a beautiful valley between Clark, Colorado, and Hahns Peak, Colorado, in a small log cabin. She was the firstborn of four children: Donna, Darrell, Delores and Darwin. She spent her early school years in a one room school in Hahns Peak. During the winter months she often boarded with the teacher as the snow was too deep to travel in. The family later moved to Craig, Colorado, where Donna graduated high school in 1951.

Donna married the love of her life, Alvin Stewart on July 6, 1951, in Billings, Montana. They have six children. Eddie (Sharon), Lynda (Brad), Mike (Tammie), Steven (Grace), Kevin (Jeanine), and Randy (Maxine). They have 18 grandchildren and 30-plus great-grandchildren.

Donna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and embroidery. She also had a lot of fun riding her Honda Odyssey. Donna enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her feeder. She also loved little horny toads, and would catch one whenever possible. She always turned them loose later.

Donna worked at the Rangely Post Office and was Postmaster in Dinosaur for a time. She became the office manager when they opened the family welding and machine shop in 1977.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years, Alvin, and by her brother Darrell.

Donna was a faithful Christian lady and will spend her eternity in Heaven. It is said that on the timeline of eternity our lives are only a dot and what we do with that dot is what counts. Our wonderful mother and grandmother really made her dot in time count. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church (188 South Stanolind Ave., Rangely). A Visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Rangely Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.AshleyValleyFuneralHome.com.
