Letter: Blagg family says thanks to Meeker

Once again, you will be reading of the incredible acts of kindness shown by a small community during a very difficult time for another community member. I guess we all think our little town is a bit more “special” when it comes to these types of situations. The loss of a loved one is unbearable at times, but the grief is eased by our faith in God and those acts of compassion and kindness shown by all of you. I was hesitant to name anyone specifically, as I did not want to miss anyone. If we have, please accept our apologies as I can assure you that your kindness did not go unnoticed. A special thank-you to our pastor, Mike Dinwiddie, and his family, Fred and Elaine Ellis for keeping us from starving and the Jim and Treasa Ellis family for a multitude of Christian friendship acts and sympathy shown to our family. Annie Ellis for providing the family flower arrangements for the service in such a short period of time; we are certain she is an angel in disguise. Neighbors for cakes and other meals during Chris’ illness. Most of all, the many of you that prayed for him and all of us for over a year. Thank you also for the compassion shown to Chris’ son, Caden, by your donations to the memorial fund at Mountain Valley Bank … and, of course, their employees for helping us. There are people everywhere who make a difference each day just by doing little acts of kindness that may not seem like much, but truly are to the recipient. Your example of love has touched our family here in Meeker and Chris’ family that traveled here from far away. We were so proud to show them our wonderful community. Please know that you will be forever treasured in our hearts.
