After nearly 29 years of service, Cindy Rholl has retired from Pioneers Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness and commitment to the organization and community it serves.
Cindy’s journey at Pioneers began with a simple goal: providing for her three young children as a newly single mother. She started in Housekeeping, reporting to work at 3 a.m. and earning $6.03 an hour, never imagining the job would become a career spanning nearly three decades.
Through determination, a willingness to learn and leaders who recognized her potential, Cindy’s career grew to include significant responsibilities. She ultimately served as Medical Staff Coordinator, overseeing medical staff credentialing, as well as Director of the Pioneers Healthcare Foundation. Along the way, she was part of major milestones, including the transition to becoming a hospital district and the planning and opening of PMC’s new facility.
Looking back, Cindy says what she is most proud of isn’t a title or professional accomplishment—it’s the people.
She remembers the close-knit team in the former hospital building, where coworkers celebrated together, supported one another through difficult times and built lifelong friendships. As Pioneers grew and expanded services, Cindy was proud to be part of that progress. Through it all, she says the people and their commitment to the community have remained at the heart of Pioneers.
“Cindy’s career is a testament to what can happen when hard work meets opportunity,” said Pioneers Medical Center CEO Steve Hannah. “On behalf of the entire Pioneers family, thank you, Cindy, for everything you’ve given to this organization.”
Cindy hopes her journey encourages others to recognize the importance of their work and embrace opportunities to grow.
“Never underestimate the importance of any role in the organization,” Cindy said. “Keep learning, work hard, and don’t give up on yourself. Sometimes all someone needs is a chance. When you get yours, make the most of it.”
Pioneers also became an important part of Cindy’s personal story. It’s where she met her husband, who became her best friend, partner and father to their family. What began as a job changed the course of her life in ways she never imagined.
Now, Cindy is looking forward to more time with her husband, children and grandchildren, along with travel, camping and whatever adventures come next.
Pioneers Medical Center extends its gratitude to Cindy for the friendship, dedication and service she has given throughout her career and wishes her every happiness in retirement.
