Meeker High School graduates Jake Phelan and Raul Lopez, and MHS girls’ basketball coach Greg Chintala, represented the Cowboys in the 59th annual Colorado High School Coaches Association’s all-state games last week at Adams State College in Alamosa. Jake Phelan was football player of year for the Western Slope League. He played for the Blue team as cornerback. The Blue team won 16-7 and Phelan added three tackles. Lopez scored 11 in the first game and 10 in the second, but his Red team lost the first game, 82-70, and fell in the second game, 74-72, in overtime. Lopez was the basketball player of the year for the Western Slope League.
