This past Saturday, Meeker hosted its first Scholastic 3D archery shoot. S3DA is a national youth archery league for kids 5-18 years old. The Club’s mission is “to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices.” The tournament in Meeker — “Meeker Xcellence: The Road to Vegas” — was a Vegas-style shoot. Each competitor shot 10 rounds of three arrows each at 20 yards. Approximately 50 youth archers from across western Colorado were in attendance.
“We are pleased to announce that six of the shooters from Meeker placed in the top three of their divisions, and all shooters performed well,” said organizer Danny Bair. “We are grateful to our local sponsors: Headhunter Bow Strings, McGuire Auto Parts Archery, Carnage Unlimited, Backcountry Outpost, Rifle performance Motorsports and Specialized Roustabout Services.” Next week, the team will compete in the S3DA Vegas National Championship in Las Vegas Nevada. “Good luck archers and look out Vegas here we come!”
