RBC | The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Blue Team issued its last update Sunday on the Fawn Creek, Wolf and Stewart fires and returned management of all three fires to local crews Monday morning.
As of Sunday, the Fawn Creek Fire was 90% contained and had burned 3,226 acres. The Stewart Fire was 100% contained and had burned 212 acres, and the Wolf fire was 73% contained and had burned 274 acres.
“As we wrap up our time on the Fawn Creek, Stewart, and Wolf fires, we want to express our sincere thanks to the community of Meeker and county of Rio Blanco for your hospitality and patience as we worked to manage this incident,” said Michael Haydon, Incident Commander with Rocky Mountain Incident Management Blue Team.
Local crews will continue to patrol the fires and perform “mop-up” activities near the edge of the fires as needed.
While an increased incidence of monsoon moisture is anticipated this week, conditions are still extremely dry and fire danger is very high. Stage 1 fire restrictions are still in effect on Bureau of Land Management lands, in Rio Blanco County, and on the White River National Forest.
