Elks plan ‘Youth Week’
RANGELY — The benevolent and protective order of the Elks has designated the first week in May as Youth Week to honor America’s junior citizens for their accomplishments.
Public to review horse herd removal
MEEKER — The Bureau of Land Management released an environmental assessment for public review which addresses the removal plan for a small herd of wild horses south of Rangely. Under the proposed plan, BLM would begin gathering approximately 150 wild horses in the West Douglas herd area this fall.

MEEKER — The Meeker resident who died after being shot by a police officer March 28 had cocaine and methamphetamine in his system, according to the autopsy.

Dear Editor, Thanks to the animal rights movement and many well-meaning but misinformed animal lovers, the slaughter of unwanted horses is now essentially banned in all 50 states.
