MEEKER I AWANA is a Bible club sponsored by the Church at Meeker and Emmanuel Baptist Church. They’ve been meeting every Tuesday after school all year and ended with the Grand Prix and Design Contest last Saturday, April 28.
Seventeen cars and as many designs were entered in the contest. Grandparents, parents and siblings were present to cheer on the contestants. With cars made from the same pine block kits used by the Boy Scouts, 17 contestants raced their cars on the track. In the speed category the finalists were Zeke Gianinetti, first place; Nora Gianinetti, second place; Cooper Michels, third place. The speed race winners were determined by the total of each car’s race times, and the winning results were separated by split seconds. Cory Cox worked the track’s starting line, and Karen Dinwiddie and Trina Cox calculated the times.
The 17 design category finalists were Marryn Shults, first place; Brady Cox, second; and Alex Murray, third. Design judges were Leon Stout, Jerry LaBonte and Kristen Cox.
Pastor Mike Dinwiddie and all the workers wish all the kids a great summer vacation and look forward to AWANA Club again next fall.
