Using National Centers for Environmental Information data, Stacker identified counties in Colorado that saw more precipitation in the past year than their long-term average. Rio Blanco County came in 12th of 45 with 23.4 inches of precipitation, 4.6 inches above the 1901-2000 average.
Clark’s Burgers in Meeker made KOOL 107.9 radio’s list of Colorado restaurants that are “worth the drive.”
Rangely was named the cheapest place to live in Colorado by “The Travel” website with a reported cost-of-living 19.2% below average.
A “center-right conservative” website blasted Rangely School District after unnamed parents reportedly complained about personal lifestyle questions at the end of an online career choices survey taken by 14 eighth graders. The site later provided a follow-up story that included a lengthy clarification from Superintendent Matt Scoggins, who said the personal questions were not part of the assignment and stated Rangely is a conservative community. The lifestyle questions that were challenged only appear after the initial 48-question survey and then another optional 26 random research questions before agreeing to answer the personal questions. (We took the test ourselves and found the career test results quite accurate.)
Dr. Katalin Kariko and Dr. Drew Weissman join 114 Nobel Prize laureates in Physiology or Medicine for their work which led to the development of mRNA vaccines against Covid. The two researchers worked on mRNA at the University of Pennsylvania since 1998. The panel that awarded the prize said their work on mRNA over the last 25 years “contributed to the unprecedented rate of vaccine development during one of the greatest threats to human health in modern times.”
Last spring, the TANK in Rangely released Slow Beethoven, the first record on its Round Sound label, it appeared on Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart, rising to Number 14.
