MEEKER — Only six wrestlers from Barone Middle School had the required nine practices needed to compete in the first tournament of the season last Saturday at Craig Middle School. Although extra wrestlers from other teams wrestled with the young Cowboys, they did not win any of the duals but two BMS wrestlers won all three of their matches.
BMS eighth-graders Christopher Ruckman and Justin Hardy won their matches in duals against Grand Mesa, Craig and Hayden. Ruckman pinned all three of his opponents, while Hardy pinned two. Eighth-grader Trey Morris went 2-1 during the day, while classmates Collin Cochran and Ethan Overton and seventh-grader Drew Collins faced tough competition and did not win a match.
“Everyone wrestled real hard and I’m proud of them,” head coach Adam Hoatson said.
The young Cowboys will compete in Hayden this Saturday.
