MEEKER I The Meeker FFA chapter hosted the second annual “Mr. Meeker FFA Male Beauty Pageant” last Saturday at the Meeker School District Administration Building.
Chapter President Caleb Dodds was chosen as this year’s “Mr. Meeker FFA” while chapter reporter Collin Cochran was chosen as “Mr. Congeniality.”
FFA members sold tickets for the event around the community inviting citizens to a delectable tri-tip beef dinner along with some hysterical entertainment courtesy of several male chapter members.
Watt’s Ranch Market supplied 120 pounds of tri-tip to the chapter at cost; which was then delivered to the newly elected county commissioner Shawn Bolton. Shawn, along with Todd Young, the newly appointed vice president at First National Bank of the Rockies, spent the day preparing and cooking the meat for this event. Several FFA members spent their Saturday afternoon decorating the administration building to fit the pageants Hawaiian theme. Other members and their families supplied side dishes and desserts to accompany the dinner. Judges for the pageant included John Wix, Denise Brown and Misty Bolton. Chapter Vice President Denee Chintala announced the different categories of the pageant while approximately 130 attending guests enjoyed dinner as well as a show!
Eight of the chapter’s male members participated in the event; these members included Caleb Dodds, Alema Atoafa, William Begaye, Ethan Overton, Collin Cochran, JJ Wyatt, Austin Brown and John Mac Sheridan. Categories judged included theme wear, a talent, sports wear, formal wear and then questions that each participant answered in front of the audience. Attire ranged from grass skirts and coconut bras to prom dresses and dirt biking gear. Talents included several dancing pieces, comedy impressions and a vocal talent. Every contestant answered their questions differently but at the end of the night each participant did not fail to voice their mutual feelings on none other than, world peace.
