Shortfall hits MSD’s budget; district audit finds no wrongdoing
MEEKER I At the Jan. 20 meeting of the Meeker Board of Education, district Superintendent Mark Meyer presented his recommended revised budget for the current school year, showing operating expenses of $5,922,357, plus a possible tax abatement return payment to the county of $148,000, totaling $6,070,357.

Meeker board to vote on water rate hike; rates still lower than other towns
MEEKER I The Meeker Town Board will consider a slight water rate hike through a proposed resolution at its Feb. 3 meeting. A resolution allows the board to raise those rates by vote of the majority of the board and is not subject to a public hearing.

MEEKER I The Annual Meeker Chamber of Commerce Dinner will be held March 7, set to recognize Meeker’s outstanding businesses and citizens, and member input is being sought regarding those to be honored.

MEEKER I On Monday the Meeker Police Department announced that on Jan. 21 Meeker police officer Gardner Mendenhall developed information that led to locating Matthew Finley, 28, who was wanted out of Mesa County on a nationwide no-bond warrant for charges related to dangerous drugs.
