RANGELY I The Rangley High School girls’ basketball team is preparing for a big weekend as members prepare to play SoRoCo on Thursday then play Caprock Academy at home Friday for the last league game.

Rangely man gets nine years for rape

RANGELY I At a sentencing hearing on Feb. 6 at the Rio Blanco Courthouse and as a result of a plea bargain, 21-year-old Rangely resident Michael Miner was sentenced to nine years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for the July 2014 rape of a 12-year-old Rangely girl.

CNCC campus in Craig now a federal fossil repository

RANGELY I On Feb. 3, Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) President Russell George and paleontologist Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, together with Ruth Welch, the Colorado state director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), signed an agreement to officially make the CNCC Craig Campus a federal fossil repository.

RSD inks fund request

RANGELY I The Rangely School Board adopted a new resolution Jan. 20 that urges the Colorado State Legislature to reduce the negative factor, effectively increasing school funding.

RHS girls beat Hotchkiss, fall to Cedaredge

RANGELY I The Rangely High School girls’ basketball team picked up a win on Saturday, beating Hotchkiss, 38-24. Coach Quinton Kent said, “We knew coming into this game that we needed to win to keep our playoff hopes alive, and I was pleased with the way our girls responded.”

Panther grapplers set for regionals

RANGELY I With only four wrestlers, the Rangely High School Panther wrestling team did not win any duals at the Meeker dual meet tournament last Saturday but they gained valuable mat experience that they will use this weekend in the state-qualifying regional tournament.
