Meeker man loses appeal on conviction for poaching

MEEKER I Convicted poacher and former outfitter Dennis Eugene Rodebaugh, 73, of Meeker, Colo., learned Aug. 25 that his appeal to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals has failed, affirming the 41-month prison sentence and fines he received in early 2013 for illegally baiting deer and elk with salt.

USFS finalizes process of mine reclamation

RBC I The U.S. Forest Service is finalizing the end stages of reclamation work on the Butterfly and Burrell Mine site located in the Blanco Ranger District. The Butterfly and Burrell mine is a former uranium mine located near Coal Creek in Rio Blanco County.

Early season hunters warned of horse roundups in western RBC

RBC I Muzzleloader and archery hunters heading to Game Management Unit 21, located south of Rangely and west of Highway 139, are advised that the Bureau of Land Management will conduct excess horse gather operations in the area beginning Sept. 14, coinciding with the start of the early hunting seasons.
