Chamber briefs

MEEKER I The Meeker Chamber of Commerce will be busy in the next few weeks with lots of activities, including The Smokin’ BBQ Showdown Thursday, July 5 on the courthouse lawn; the Main Street Madness Basketball Tournament July 7 Meeker in which 3-on-3 basketball enthusiasts on the old elementary school outdoor courts. “Plein Air Meeker 2012” takes place between June 15 and July 5. Plein Air painting is painting “in the open air” instead of the studio. Paintings will be judged and on display (and available for silent auction) at the Meeker Public Library, 490 Main St., from Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. through 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5. The Meeker chamber would like to invite everyone downtown Wednesday, July 4 for live music, a watermelon eating-contest, bounce houses, beer garden, food and lots of fun.
