MEEKER I The Meeker Chamber of Commerce will be electing five members to its 10-person board of directors next month. A nominating committee has selected nine individuals to be listed on the 2012 ballot. The five incumbents include current president Cassie McGuire, owner of McGuire Auto Parts; vice president Michele Morgan, of the Blue Spruce Inn and White River Valley Properties, LLC; treasurer Kimberly O’Connell, a community supporter; and board members Ann Marie Scritchfield, owner of Sable Mountain Outfitters and Joe Fennessy, local attorney. All five have agreed to run for another term.
Challengers include Jeannette Shepherd, owner of Shepherd’s Office Outfitters; Jim Ellis of Atmos Energy; L.D. Grove, owner of the White River Inn; and Leif Joy, owner of Joy Surveying Company.
If any other chamber members want their name on the ballot, a petition can be picked up at the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, 710 Market St. The petition must be signed by at least 10 qualified members of the Meeker Chamber of Commerce and returned in person to the chamber or mail to P.O. Box 869 by Aug. 5.
Official ballots will be mailed out to members in August and must be returned by Friday, Aug. 24. The five new board members will be seated at the first regular meeting in September.
