Aydan Christian and Kasen LeBleu both qualified for the state championships held in Denver last week. Christian started out strong with a quality 4-1 win over his Cedaredge opponent. He wrestled smart and controlled the match, unfortunately he injured himself that night requiring stitches and was unable to continue in the tournament.
LeBleu had a very bad draw in the tournament, his first match was against the eventual state runner up. He wrestled tough in the first period with the score tied at zero. In the second period LeBleu was reversed and put on his back and eventually pinned. His next match was against the kid that would end up placing sixth. LeBleu was taken down awkwardly, tweaking his neck and back, and was pinned, eliminating him from the tournament.
“The last few weeks have been hard to take with the injuries that have occurred with the team. I guess it comes with the sport. We as coaches are very proud of these two individuals as well as the wrestling team for all of their hard work they have put into the season. I want to thank my buddy Bobby Gutierrez for the amazing photos from regionals and state, Haille Russell and Gayle Zimmerman for the awesome photos of the wrestlers,” head coach Jeff LeBleu said, adding, “Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank the parents of this year’s team for all their support all season long. Be proud of your wrestlers they are an amazing group of young men.”
