RANGELY | Rangely’s Christmasfest looks a bit different this year due to COVID-19. Determined to provide some holiday cheer when it is needed the most, the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District (WRBM Rec and Park District) with many other organizations kicked off 2020 Christmasfest festivities this week. The Snowflake Baby and Pet Contest went virtual for 2020. There is still time to go onto the WRBM Rec and Park District Facebook page and vote for your favorite entries until Dec. 11.
The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt is already underway and ends Dec. 11. Elf “Snickerdoodle” will be located throughout the town at different businesses every day. Once you find the elf you must take a selfie with him and post it on the Rangely’s Elf on the Shelf Facebook page. Once you do this you will be entered to win chamber bucks after the event is over. If you make a purchase at that location and post the receipt on the Rangely’s Elf on the Shelf Facebook page you will be entered for a second chance to win Chamber bucks. For more information contact the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce at 675-5290.
Sleigh Rides will be held Dec. 11 at 1485 La Mesa Circle from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is sponsored by WRBM Rec and Park District and provided by Absolute Prestige to the public for free so please tip the sleigh driver. There will be a chili bar, hot dogs, hot cocoa bar, and a fire pit to make smores. This part of the event is sponsored by Wildlife Expressions.
Finish up Christmasfest week on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Parade of Lights. The theme for the parade this year is a Classic Christmas. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Line up starts on South Stanolind and heads down Main Street to the Fire Hall.
