RBC I According to Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder Boots Campbell, the press release issued last week from Garfield County regarding changes to license plates for Class C (personal property) motor vehicles needs some clarification.
First, people do not have to do anything new when renewing the registration on their vehicles.
Current license plates cannot be transferred to another vehicle unless it is a personalized plate. Customers who want to keep the same number/letter configuration — or who want to keep the old YV# plates, for example — will need to apply for a personalized plate. A new plate with the same number/letter configuration will be manufactured and mailed to them.
Specialty plates (military, pioneer, Columbine, breast cancer plates, etc.) cannot be personalized. Customers who wish to continue using specialty plates will get a new number/letter combo, but will not have to requalify for the specialty plates or repay the extra cost. Normal annual fees will apply.
