CNCC CORNER: CNCC Foundation Dinner Mar. 26

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the CNCC Foundation provides funding for CNCC students, programs, and projects that are outside of the scope of traditional College funding sources (state funding, tuition, etc.).

Foundation funds come from donations from individuals and businesses, grants from government entities or private foundations, proceeds of events like the Foundation Dinner and Auction, gifts made from Donor Advised Funds, and bequests, beneficiary designations, or other planned/legacy gifts.

Gifts to the Foundation provide student and program support to ensure that all students have access to affordable, quality educational opportunities here at CNCC.

During this academic year, over $175,000 in student scholarships were provided through the CNCC Foundation. Program funds granted by the Rocky Mountain Health Foundation for Dental Hygiene purchased new equipment for use in the clinic. The purchase of scholarship management software removed barriers for students applying for Foundation scholarships and more than tripled application numbers over the past year. A student emergency fund was established to help students experiencing an unexpected expense cope, as these one-time, unplanned expenses (such as medical expenses) can often lead to student dropout. These represent just a few of the impacts made through our donors this year.

The 18th annual Foundation Dinner will be Saturday, March 26 from 5:30-9 p.m. in the Colorado Room on the Rangely campus. The event will have a ‘60s theme in honor of the 60 years of excellence in education provided since the college was established in 1962. The night will celebrate all things ‘60s, from great music spanning every taste and genre, good down-home cooking, fashions and fads and more.

CNCC Cosmetology students will be available from 3–5 p.m. in the Weiss Hall conference room to provide free hair styling and makeup assistance for anyone planning to dress up in ’60s gear for the event. Dressing up is not required, but it sure makes things fun.

A limited number of tickets are available. Contact Sue Samaniego ([email protected] or 970-675-3216) or purchase tickets online at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/2022FoundationDinner.  Tickets are $50 each or $300 per table of six. The meal will be pot roast, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, and cheesecake or chocolate cake for dessert.

Proceeds go to CNCC scholarships and programs (80%), the CNCC unrestricted fund (10%), and the CNCC endowment (10%).  The scholarship funds raised will be matched dollar for dollar by a grant from the Colorado Department of Education’s Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative.

Thank you to all CNCC Foundation supporters, past and present. You make dreams come true.
