CNCC is gearing up for the start of the new academic year with the first day of classes starting on Aug. 19, 2024. Prior to classes starting, athletic events will have been firmly underway. Athletes competing in Fall sports return starting Aug. 1, 2024.
Rodeo starts its season away beginning Sept. 8, 2024, at Southern Utah University with the Spartan Showdown being held in Craig on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, and Saturday Sept. 21, 2024, in Craig at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.
Soccer begins play Aug. 22 at Northeastern Junior College, with men’s and women’s teams hosting their season opener on the new Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. for women and 1:30 p.m. for men (The women’s soccer team will play on the new field on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.)
Volleyball kicks off its fall season away at Gillette Community College on Aug. 29, 2024. Athletes and spectators will be thrilled with the updates to CNCC’s gym. A brand-new floor is being installed in the gymnasium to support our volleyball and basketball programs as well as other sporting activities. Thanks to the Rangely Junior College District and Rangely taxpayers, the court is safe and boasts a fresh and modern look of which the College and students can be proud.
The following are coaching changes as of the 2024-25 year:
• Coach Justin Motzkus will be leading the Men’s Soccer Team, entering his first year as head coach.
• Coach Eldon Brough will be leading the Women’s Soccer Team, entering his third year overall at CNCC.
• Coach Casey Quiggle will be leading the Volleyball team, entering his first year as head coach at CNCC.
We are excited to announce that a search for a cross-country coach is underway. It is a new sport that CNCC plans to add to its roster.
Finally, the College is planning homecoming activities to take place during the week of Sept. 9, ending in a tailgate party, campus games and a double header soccer game on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. Event details will be posted on the College’s website by Aug. 12, 2024, at Colorado Northwestern Community College (cncc.edu).
