RBC I Colorado Northwestern Community College equine studies instructor and horse show coach Stacey Bailey released the results of the team’s last competition before the holiday break, describing the event as a bit “rocky.”
The CNCC horse show team traveled to the competition at Utah State University in Logan and was able to post some good scores despite a few equine problems.
“I will tell you that the team had a bit of a rocky show,” Bailey said. “As you may know, the riders draw horses (they do not ride their own) and it is very rare for horses to act up and for riders to be given an alternate horse.
“However, we had two classes in a row in which alternate horses were permitted for our riders because of horse behavior,” she said. “Overall, the team did extremely well and a lot of them met personal goals over the weekend.”
Results of the show were: Tasha Gibson (horsemanship): third, first and fourth; (reining): fourth, fourth and third; Amber Parmley: second; Catalina Laguera: fifth, fifth and third; Kathryn Costales: fifth, fifth and sixth; and Ripley Bellio: third, second and third.
The team’s next show is in February at Rocky Mountain College.
