RBC I CNCC’s rodeo athletes just competed at their first college rodeo of the season and had a great “first rodeo.” They traveled to Salina, Utah, to compete at “SNOW” college’s indoor rodeo. CNCC’s Sadie Shake and Hadley Gross were both entered in the barrel racing, and Hadley also tied a goat.
In the “long go-round,” where everyone entered in the rodeo competes one time, Shake won fourth place in the barrels, after nearly a year off of her horse, while he came back from injury. Gross won seventh in the barrels, with a very pretty barrel run. In the long go-round of the goat tying, Gross placed 12th.
Saturday, the top 10 finishers in each event competed in the “short go-round.” Shake tipped the first barrel, but she had two great left barrels on her horse. With some fine tuning on that first barrel, she will be running in the top three every weekend. Gross rode even more aggressively, and she won second in the short go-round and second in the average, which is the aggregate time on two runs of competition.
The CNCC team competes indoors again this coming weekend at CSI, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
