RANGELY I The weekend of April 9-10 found the CNCC rodeo team in Grand Junction for the Colorado Mesa college rodeo. “They do a great job of hosting all of us and put on a fun rodeo! Both Sadie Shake and Hadley Gross ran barrels on Friday evening and the weather was just great,” said coach Tammy Olson.
Gross was the first of the duo to run barrels in the slack after the rodeo. Unfortunately, her great horse, “Hubbs”, slipped on a hind foot as he started his turn into the first barrel. This cost her a bit of time but when they tipped the third barrel, they were out of the running.
Shake and “Ricky” ran later in slack Friday night, and they made a nice, solid run. They came back in the short go-round in seventh place on Saturday. On Saturday, several horses had some issues with the first and third barrels, as did Shake and “Ricky.” They finished one hole out of the points in the long go-round, the short go-round and the aggregate. Close, but just not quite there.
The CNCC rodeo team had one last spring college rodeo in Spanish Fork, Utah during Easter weekend.
“We plan to finish the 2022 spring season on a high note! As always, thank you for your support!” said Olson.
